GMR to Mt Baldy with a great friend
Today Michael and I rode to Mt Baldy. We have been friends for a long time and since moving away I don't get to see him much. It's always a treat when he is in town.

Catalina Island Gravel Adventure (Avalon to Two Harbors)
Embark on an enchanting Catalina Island getaway from the laid-back shores of Long Beach! Begin your journey at the charming Long Beach Catalina Landing located at 320 Golden Shore. The Catalina Express, a delightful ferry service, eagerly awaits at the terminal, ready to sweep you away on a picturesque 1-hour cruise across the Pacific to the captivating destinations of Avalon or Two Harbors on Catalina Island. For a hassle-free experience, secure your tickets in advance at the terminal or conveniently online at www.catalinaexpress.com. Keep in mind, though, that if you plan to bring your trusty bicycle, there's a small extra fee – something to consider when planning your travel.
As you bask in the breathtaking coastal views during the ferry ride, anticipate the pleasures of Avalon. This town is synonymous with quaint shops, tempting restaurants, and inviting outdoor activities. Just a short boat ride from Long Beach, this island retreat not only promises stunning views but also the flexibility to bring your two-wheeled companion along, with a minor additional cost.
Keep in mind that a biking permit is required for this adventure. Easily obtainable online through the Catalina Island Conservancy's official website (www.catalinaconservancy.org) or in person at their office in Avalon, the permit not only supports conservation efforts on the island but also ensures a sustainable and enjoyable experience for all visitors. Plan ahead, secure your permit, and then pedal through the enchanting landscape, taking in the diverse cacti, native vegetation, and breathtaking views, making this Catalina Island bicycle excursion an eco-friendly and memorable adventure.
