It’s been worse
Today’s Bagel ride got to a late start and overall wasn’t as fast as it’s been in the past. All the racers are at CBR today so those who showed up for todays Bagel ride got lucky.

Tuesday day night I couldn’t decide on where I was going to ride on Wednesday morning. There is Les’ CC Wednesday ride in Rancho Cucamonga. Les’ CC ride is great. Les has been leading this ride for a number of years and the people who show up are always nice and welcoming. Les takes us all over Claremont, Rancho, Fontana, San Bernardino and the neighboring cities.
I could do the Wednesday ride or there is always Glendora Mountain Road. If I leave early enough, the weather will be cool and GMR will be mostly all mine to enjoy. GMR is a great place to just ride and take in the mountain and fresh air. It’s an escape from the city and it's chaos.
I went to bed still unsure which ride to do so I “slept on it” and figured by the time I wake up, I’ll just get up and ride. If my bike takes me east, its Les’ ride, if I go west, well that’s GMR.
West!, my bike took me west. Heading up GMR the road was mostly empty except for a couple cyclists. Zero cars passed me on the way up and I got in my zone and pedaled up and up until I was at the shack. On the way down, a number of cyclist, including Scott P were making there way up. I think I waved or said hi to all of them as I made my way down the mountain. GMR puts me in such a good mood.
So it turns out I've been riding with worn out bibs for at least a month!
Monday morning Crazy Legs is such a great ride. First, the people leading the group are great. Barry B and John W (Although John wasn’t at this ride today) are some of the nicest guys in the community and are very welcoming to new riders. Second, you can always count on someone always showing up for this ride. This ride was a spin off from the evening CL ride and originally founded by Donald years ago as a more moderate paced ride. Talking pace most of the time unless Balmore or Monte want to spice up the ride. It happens but in the end we all start and “mostly” finish together.
When I first joined this ride in March of 2020, I was definitely out of shape. Balmore was one of the first guys to help me along and even waited for me when I got dropped. I really appreciated Balmore helping me along in those early days. Fast forward to today, Balmore and I are pretty competitive. On Monday’s ride we kept pushing each other. I would slowly increase the pace and he’d match me at every pedal stroke. I’d be listening to see if he changed gears and prepared to pass me. I’d drop down a gear or two and try to keep him at bay. Yeah it hurt and a few times I was successful staying ahead of him.
The camaraderie and friendships that develop while riding with friends are invaluable. If you are interested in a nice friendly ride come out Monday morning and join the Psycho-List Crazy Legs ride. We meet at Euro Cafe in Claremont and roll out at 8:15 am.
Today Richard O and I rode to Long Beach and back. Overall it was a great ride, towards the beach it started to rain and we got soaked. On Ramona, I got yet another flat! I think this is the Summer of flat tires.
It wasn't bad except for a few areas Cesar decided to push the pace. Larry, Camacho and Jonas joined us along with Ricardo and Cesar. Larry is a crack up. Mid/High, French Cut and large package, that's for another time to talk about while riding.
