"Ted King believes that the simplicity of competitive cycling
makes it entirely comprehensible worldwide. "Pedal hard and first guy
across the line wins," is his boiled-down description of the sport. Ted
"got it" when he was a freshman at Middlebury college in Vermont. After
watching his older brother Robbie win the 2002 National Collegiate Road
Championship he decided to devote himself to competing on two wheels.
Pedaling hard, Ted has gone on to perform at the highest
levels of road racing. He competed in the 2013 Tour de France and is
set to ride again with Team Cannondale in 2014. Often, riders like Ted
get overlooked. His role on the team is a domestique – a rider who’s
job it is to support the team leader, from riding in front and creating
a draft, to giving up his bicycle if necessary. He has helped his team
leader to close the 2013 season with more victories than any other
World Tour rider. But unlike many support riders, Ted has also made a
name for himself and is very popular with American fans"
