GMR to Mt Baldy (Didn't make it to the lifts this time)
Its been a busy work week and by Friday I was exhausted. I officially stopped working and logged off my computer Friday at 10 pm. I was beat and with so much more work at hand, I pondered forgoing my weekend ride. I had no commitments with meeting other riders and decided on a lone ride up GMR. I needed the quiet calm to refuel my exhausted soul.
Beep, Beep, Beep, my alarm went off at 5:00 am. "Ugh, do I really want to ride?"
6:30 am, I'm up, fueled and heading to GMR. I'm not going to push it today. Just a nice ride up the mountain.
Somewhere before the first saddle of GMR, I met Kroy. He came up behind me at a decent clip. We got to talking and it turns out he lives fairly close. We ended up riding together the whole way home.
Hey Kroy, lets ride again, send me an email.
On GRR we met Mike. He told us a funny story about riding to the Ski Lifts and some others about the places and races he's seen.
7 am and the Street Luge guys are ready to make it up the mountain.

Phil and Meme Rode to Newport
This past weekend, Meme and Phil rode to Newport. This was Phil's first taste of road riding. According to Meme he rode strong and had a great time. Meme rode his single speed SE Draft and Phil was sporting a vintage Centurion.
GMR to the Lifts?
Hmmmm, I'd really like to ride from my place in Pomona to GMR to Mt Baldy Ski Lifts this Saturday. I always have the intention of getting to the lifts, but when I drop down from GRR to Baldy Village, I find I'm just ready to go home.
I have this Grand idea of riding from Pomona to GMR to Mt Baldy Bar and Yacht Club at the very top of Mt Baldy. I guess I need to be able to get to the lifts first...

Buds Ride
I was already tired before I even started the ride. It was fast but not to bad. That eastern Via Verde entrance always gets me. The road is in poor condition and beats me up everytime. I feel a cold coming along. Lets see what happens. I'd like to ride GMR to MT Baldy lifts this Saturday morning.
Sorry no pictures. The ride is to fast for pictures.

Epic Ride, Anyone...Anyone...
Lots of people ride GMR to MT Baldy ski lifts. I want to ride GMR to MT Baldy and then keep going up Falls Road to where the ski lifts drop you off at the top of the mountain. Anyone else interested. You would either need a mountain bike or cyclocross bike. If you are interested send me an email. BicycleFriends@gmail.com.

Liège–Bastogne–Liège
Liège–Bastogne–Liège, often called La Doyenne ("the oldest")[1][2][3], is one of the five 'Monuments' of the European professional road cycling calendar[4]. It is run in the Ardennes region of Belgium, from Liège to Bastogne and back.
Liège–Bastogne–Liège was part of the UCI Road World Cup and is part of the Belgian Ardennes Classics series ...

Pomona to Chantry Flats
Today we rode from Pomona to Chantry Flats. I initially planned to ride from Pomona to GMR to Mt Baldy, but after speaking with our group we decided on Chantry Flats. I have to admit, I was a little hesitant to go on this ride. Pomona to Chantry Flats sounds far!
It turned out to be a great ride. There is a bit of climbing but not as epic as a Baldy ride. For me the ride was fast getting to Santa Anita Ave. Once we entered the National Forest, Chantry Flats is only about two miles in.
The last time I was at Chantry Flats was on a Hay Delivery when I worked at my local feed store.
I was getting tired climbing up to Chantry Flats. I must have asked five people how much further until the pack station. None of them ever told me. Most just looked at me and laughed. WTF, No really I wanted to know!
It was overcast 100% of the way up. This was the best panorama shot I could get while climbing up the mountain.
This is where Santa Anita turns into Chantry Flats Road. See at the top (About 2.5 miles away).
On the way home the Montrose Group was heading in the opposite direction.

Gravity Bikes
I could see this as my next project (Once the tall bike is complete).
"Gravity Biking is a sport that started over 30 years ago. And one that continues to use the latest in Biking Technology.http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif
Full suspension stretched and lowered bike frames. suspension BMX forks and Hayes hydraulic disc brakes. Plug this into 20" Velocity Wheels with freestyle racing slicks and you have the ultimate downhill speed bike.
Racing downhill with no cranks or pedals, riders kneel in an aero tuck behind a fiberglass motorcycle fairing. These Down Hill Rockets have been clocked at speeds in excess, of 90mph, and are earning faster qualification times than the more commonly known downhill sport Street Luge.""

Bonelli Bud's Ride
It was fast, and I did better than last week. Sorry, no pictures, the rides to fast for stinking pictures!
La Flèche Wallonne
La Flèche Wallonne is a major men's professional cycle road race held in April each year in Belgium.La Flèche Wallonne was created to boost the sales of a newspaper Les Sports during the 1930s and was first run in 1936. While perhaps not as revered as one of the Classic 'Monuments', the race is widely regarded as a Classic, and featured on the UCI Road World Cup and UCI ProTour. It became part of the UCI World Ranking calendar in 2009. The first of two Belgian Ardennes classics, La Flèche Wallonne (the Walloon Arrow) is today normally held mid-week between the Amstel Gold Race and Liège–Bastogne–Liège.

Status Update: Tall Bike Height
Tomorrow I will hopefully go to Jensons USA to pick up a Bottom Bracket and finally be able to fiddle with the chain linkage.
The Tall Bike stands 4' 4" from ground to center of horizontal top tube. I am 5' 8" and look how tall it is compared to me.

Making Bread
Jamie's been on the bread making kick the past couple months. Lucky me, as nothing compares to fresh bread. Today's batch is a Sunflower Sourdough.
Ball of dough ready to be split and put in bread pans to rise.
Frannie brushing egg white on risen dough.
Add some more sunflower seeds and ready to be baked.
Ahhhh! Fresh bread.

Is There Such a Thing as a Bad Ride ...
When its as beautiful day, warm and in the company of friends, its hard to argue against this. We were supposed to ride Team V, but a late night, last minute call changed this. Instead we would ride GMR to Baldy or ...
Its been awhile since I rode GMR to Baldy but I'm a team player and if the group wants to go to Baldy, then we ride to Baldy. Long story short, we decided on GMR to East Fork then down Azusa Ave (Still a great ride).
Above: Jeff and Scott from CCA join us on the ride.
Not a cloud in the sky, many bicyclist headed up and down GMR, East Fork and Azusa Canyon
Above: A rear tire flat gave us a few minutes of "Extra" rest!
The Street Luge guys were out in full force. They seemed rather cheerful today!

My question is why didn't his team support vehicle swap bicycles?
